contestant eligibility

requirements & criteria

Young women and men who meet the following requirements below may enter the Miss Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Pageant or Mr. Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Pageant. 

Must meet ONE of the Basic Requirements:     

1.Entrant must be single, born female, never have been married, divorced, become pregnant, or had a marriage annulled. Miss Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Queen and the Royal Court Members must remain single (unmarried) during the entire year of reign. (If she should marry or become pregnant, Miss. Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Queen or Royal Court Member will relinquish her title and crown to next runner up.)

​Entrant must be single, born male, never have been married, divorced, become a father, or had a marriage annulled. Mr. Friendly El Monte/South El Monte King and the Royal Court Members must remain single (unmarried) during the entire year of reign. (If he should marry or become a father, Mr. Friendly El Monte/South El Monte King or Royal Court Member will relinquish his title and crown to next runner up.) 

2. Residency. The contestant must have resided in the city of El Monte or South El Monte for a minimum of six (6) months prior to entering a local preliminary pageant. Entry date is the date the contestant contract is signed. Proof will be a valid California Driver’s License, student ID, or any other official document establishing residency.

3. School Attendance. The contestant must be at least a sophomore and have completed one full-time semester at a high school within the El Monte Union High School District. The contestant must currently be enrolled as a full-time student (12 units) and must maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average during pageant affiliation. Proof will be evidence of registration, transcripts of other official documentation. 

Must meet ALL of the Qualifying Requirements: 
1. Age. The contestant must be between the ages of sophomore and 23 on or before January 27, 2024.

2. Marital Status. The contestant must be single, having never been married, divorced, or had any marriage annulled. 
3. Additional Status. The contestant must also have never given birth to a child or to become pregnant or parent a child during pageant affiliation.

Miss Teen Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Pageant

Young women who meet the following three requirements may enter the Miss Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Pageant:

1. Entrant must be single, born female, never have been married, divorced, pregnant, or had a marriage annulled.  Miss Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Teen Queen and Royal Court Members must remain single during the entire year of reign.  (If she should marry or become pregnant, Miss Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Queen or Royal Court Member will relinquish her title and crown to next runner-up.)
   
2. Residency. The contestant must have resided in the city of El Monte or South El Monte for a minimum of six (6) months prior to entering a local preliminary pageant. • Mister Teen Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Pageant
• Young men who meet the following three requirements may enter the Mister Teen Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Pageant 
• Entrant must be single, born male, never have been married, divorced, pregnant, or had a marriage annulled.  Mister Teen Friendly El Monte/South El Monte King and Royal Court Members must remain single during the entire year of reign.  (If he should marry, Mister Teen Friendly El Monte/South El Monte Queen or Royal Court Member will relinquish his title and crown to next runner-up.)
  Residency. The contestant must have resided in the city of El Monte or South El Monte for a minimum of six (6) months prior to entering a local preliminary pageant. Entry date is the date the contestant contract is signed. Proof will be a valid California Driver’s License, student ID, or any other official document establishing residency.
  School Attendance. The contestant must have completed at least one full-time semester at a middle school/high school within the school districts in El Monte or South El Monte. The contestant must currently be enrolled as a full-time student (12 units) and must maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average during pageant affiliation. In addition, Must meet the following three Qualifying Requirements:

1. Age. The contestant must be in the seventh, eighth, or ninth grade to participate.  
   
2. Marital Status. The contestant must be single, having never been married, divorced, or had any marriage annulled.
3. Additional Status. The contestant must also have never given birth to a child or to become pregnant during pageant affiliation.
